![]() Laurie, Sales Account Manager After three years of working as a retail manager and spending the 4th quarter, holiday season working instead of with my family, I decided it was time to get a ‘normal’ 9:00—5:00 job! (After all, working on Black Friday is not nearly as fun as shopping on Black Friday, right?!) On December 24, 2010, I vowed to myself that I would be in a new career within the next year! (Thank you, CotterWeb!) In all honesty, I don’t remember applying for the Sales Account Manager position at CotterWeb Enterprises. I received a follow-up call to my application though and figured, “Why not?!” From the first interview, I was completely intrigued with this industry and have been more than thrilled with my decision to change careers since. Although this is a different field entirely, the skills I learned in my prior job have transferred well into my current position as a Sales Account Manager. Along with that, the ability to strategize and build client relationships is something I love to do. This has been a great fit for me—from the position to the company—and I can honestly say that I enjoy coming into work. It’s not too much of a job when you enjoy it, right?! ![]() Tina, Graphic/Web Designer Designers always hear …”Your job must be fun.” And in my case its true! My job (I like to consider it a career) is fun. I get to draw, play with colors, fonts, photos and whole lot more. Who wouldn’t want to do that all day? Okay so there are some people out there that would disagree. I started as a graphic designer in 1998 and did that for 5 years. Then I decided that being a graphic designer was fun but I felt the need to expand and grow. I went back to school for my BS in Interactive Media Design and then became a Graphic/Web Designer. As an in house designer for CotterWeb I get to work on a variety of different projects, such as Web Site Graphics, Emails, Banner ads for web and mobile and the list goes on. The work is very rewarding, not only when the clients like the creative but as a whole when the company does well, it’s acknowledged; it might come in the form of thank you/props or treated to appetizers for lunch. I would hope that if you have a career it is with a good company that you are glad you work for, it makes going to work that much easier. ![]() Mitchell, Web Developer Growing up a geek is not for everyone, but for me, getting geeky set me up to work at one of the coolest companies in Minnesota, as well as working on fun, interesting problems. For instance, InboxDollars has millions of members - developing features to work well for all of them can be tricky, and presents challenges that you do not normally see. I am just out of school, graduating with degrees in Business, Marketing, and Political Science. These were all to back up my real passion, which is creating web applicaitons for people to use. I have done this for Fortune 100 companies, local resturant chains (Famous Daves), and random ideas that I had in the shower. I got started programming in 5th grade, and was the first freshman to take the programming classes that my high school offered. After a stint in politics, I was back, by way of interactive marketing. When I am not writing the code to make sure our members have the best experience possible, I can be found with an XBox controller in my hand, with a tablet or laptop close by. |
